What’s better than a sports day by the beach!

Triple E Games was a Sports and Family Day held on Maracas Beach last Sunday. The event was planned to distract youths from negative influences and bring them together via healthy competition.
Hosted by The EEEmpire, it featured ten fun events including five-a-side football knockout competition, a balloon squat relay, a three-legged obstacle relay, tug of war, even a beer drinking race. All events included at least one female participant.
Tishanna Sankar who participated in the five- a- side football said, “Even in the football, they made it compulsory to have at least one girl in each team. Equal opportunity is what I always say, so this was very noteworthy as I got an opportunity to participate and have fun with everyone else.”

Many youngsters had much fun on the day, but the significance of the activities transcended fun on the beach.
One of the organisers of the Triple E Family, Armani Fernandes said: “The aim of this event was to bring together entertainment groups in the industry to show that we can have harmony amongst ourselves and do something other than party.”
He explained that too many times, event planners forget to have fun and this event provided the opportunity to do so.

A proud Fernandes added:  “We had the best ambience I have ever seen in a sports day. We all participated in these fun games to the back drop of coconut trees and the picturesque Maracas Bay in the background competing for our attention.”
The execution was not without hiccups, starting two hours late because of torrential rain showers and two teams never showed up. Still, judging from the responses of both patrons and organizers the event was a memorable experience.
An enthusiastic Stefan Guevara was quick to explain that the success of their event was not without assistance.
He thanked the sponsors Red Bull energy drink, SpEx Sports Equipment and the Ministry of Social Development. “I would always be grateful to them, Mr. Scoon for equipment, Minister Douglas for the prizes and Red Bull for the wings to tote all the equipment and prizes all over the beach!”
