How we make things GLOW - The Concept

What is the Concept?

Concept: an abstract or general idea inferred or derived from specific instances. We define concept to be the activity or the action in and surrounding a particular event. eg. Dresscode, Water Trucks with water hoses etc all form parts of the concept. Concepts include: Mardi Gras (beads, masks), Water Party(patrons wear bathing suits and get sprayed with water) etc
Theme: a unifying idea that is a recurrent element in literary or artistic work; "it was the usual `boy gets girl' theme". We define theme as the general gist of the event. eg. Lighting, Set up, decoration, Entertainment all contribute to the theme of the night. Themes include: A Retro Theme, A Carnival Ole Mas Theme etc.

Basically the concept is the VERB(depicts action, like free drinks before 12) and the theme is the NOUN.

For the EEEmpire's next event, the college GRAFFITI experience II, one of the the main attractions of the event is its interactive concept.

According to the EEEmpire's facebook.com event, this party comprises of college students dressed in plain white t-shirts. These patrons would write all over each other with Glowing markers or paint. Quoting from the page, 'The EEEmpire' says: "As it gets later in the night, and people get more intoxicated, the messages get more interesting. It is especially fun trying to read your white t-shirt the next morning, usually there will be some funny and obscene stuff in words and pictures."

This Graffiti concept is an international concept, pioneered by Bacardi (the company behind Bacardi Superior and Bacardi 151) who began hosting large Graffiti Parties since 1988. Now on its twenty first year, this party is still a hit. According to beforelastcall.com, at this party everyone gets a white t-shirt, the place is covered in white paper, thousands of sharpies lay about, and you drink and write on everything! It becomes VERY interactive by the end. This year Bacardi is hosting its 21st Annual Bacardi Graffiti Party.

The EEEmpire, hoping to bring international concepts and entertaining solutions decided to localise this theme. Last year for the college GRAFFITI experience I, they included crayons, abeer and paint to the concept of markers on white. According to Armani Fernandes, "We are all Trinidadians, so our culture must show in anything we do. I am from south of the border and I use more abeer than anything else"

This year, for the college GRAFFITI experience II, the concept of this event has been tweeked to fit the 2010 "artistic Glow in the Dark" theme. Never done before in the world, this glow concept includes glow in the dark markers and paint to create an additional euphoric effect in the darkness. Patrons are expected to be whisked away to the 7th floor of Algico Plaza in fine style, escorted by the Graffiti Glow Girls. After connecting with this 3G network, all enter the Marker Mayhem and literally let loose as every and anyone has the opportunity to leave an indelible impression on another patron.
Asked to describe what the part two of this experience would be like, one committee member said:
"Imagine the pulsating rhythms of the best blend of our dancehall, hip hop and local music. You spot that girl you wanted to talk to for the longest while. After some flirtations, you leave your number on her jersey and return to your friends. The next day wether she calls or not does not matter because it would simply one out of the many. For you have an entire jersey full of signatures, deisgns, phone numbers and any and almost everything else which would serve as your permanent reminder of your Graffiti Glow experience."

For those interested:
Perhaps the "bad boy" in you has thought about spray painting graffiti somewhere, but you don't want to deal with the legal problems of it. If you and your friends want to let loose the graffiti artists inside you, you can host a party to do so. You can use such a party to redecorate your home with profound, four-foot high, spray painted words if you want to. Even if you only want to paint on canvasing board, a graffiti party is a great way to let loose the rebellious artist in you without becoming an actual delinquent. Read it all here.

Easter Monday = Beach

It was amazing to see that it did not matter how proficient one was in maths, everyone understood that equation this Easter Monday. The entire Triple E Crew in collaboration with some COSTAATT Students pooled their resources and put together a fun lime on Maracas Beach.

The purpose was to strengthen bonds formed the week before at the BFF sports within the crew and foster an environment devoid of noise, loud music and random gyration and full of fun activities and a general slow paced relaxing day.

According to Ken Sambury, the idea was orginally Kevon Adams, to have a beach lime some time involving COSTAATT Students.

"Kevon wanted to have a beach lime, so I teamed up with him and we helped each other out. I made a facebook event, printed tickets and organised maxis as we normally would and Kevon and his friends used the resources we provided. It turned out nicely, incident free" Ken said.

This beach lime consisted of several large 24 seater Red Band Maxi taxis full of talkative, fun loving young adults. It included games such as twister and pictionary to ad that special 'lime' aspect to the day. Twister was especially a hit as people intertwined among one another twisting and bending their bodies all in an attempt to stay in the game. iPALANCE.com caputured some classic pictures of the twister twists and falls.

The lime also boasted a well stocked beach cooler bar consisting of several coolers ram crammed with beers, bottles and red bull. Patrons like Orlando Greenage also tasted some of "grannies hand" eating out of the big pot of pealau.

The EEEmpire has hosted a string of "Not another Beach Limes" throughout 2009 usually well attended involving a bit of the beach fun and a night time party. This time the emphasis was on relaxation. Commenting on this Sadeisha Chunksy Folkes said the lime was very fun for her but she likes to hear her loud music when liming. "The lime was fun actually, but next time play the music"

In response to this, Stefan Guevara said the next similar event is a road trip alongside Eddie Entertainment in two 52 seater buses, all fully equipped with their own 'hard pong' speaker set up. Stefan explained; "Right now we are trying to fit some turn tables in the big bus. We would see how that works out"

Bring Friends and Family!

Pop!” Was the literal sound from the Balloon Bust race which signalled the start of second annual B.F.F Sports and Family day last Sunday the 29th March at W.A.S.A grounds.
For some Trinidadians, BFF means much more than Best Friends Forever, but to the host Schizophrenic Entertainment, it signified "Bring Friends and Family" together. For the past week, facebook has abound with footage of the BFF triumphs, tribulations, teamwork and some very interesting facial expressions.

This 'BFF' Sports Day saw the organizers Schizophrenic Entertainment pitted against four other entertainment organizations. These teams included Liquid Dream, TriniCrew.com, Blaque Phoenixxx and us, the EEEmpire. This event had an amazing build up of friendly competition with entertainment committee members poking fun at each other all professing victory long before the sports day!

Asking a few questions to EEEmpire committee members, the general consensus was that the experience ran significantly smoother than last year, with the Schizo team keeping everyone updated well in advance and working along patiently to liaise with the team.

Kicking off around 2pm in the afternoon, all teams participated in 18 fun events. From running to dancing, skipping and sliding, all committees maintained high hopes for the BFF trophy. With blazing sun on all participant's backs only their enthusiasm from the teams they represented keep these participants energized.

In a brief interview with Shaena Cariah, 'Secretary 2' of The EEEmpire, she explained that BFF for her was a wonderful experience although it was her first sports day of this kind. She described the day as "fun, fun, fun" explaining that she enjoyed it thoroughly and it was interesting to see how people of different committees interacted with each other in that type of environment.

When asked how she benefited as a person, she said: "Yes, this has made me more interactive in general and specifically with my peers from the committee. I was also able to meet and network with and other people from different committees like Liquid Dream and Schizo" Concerning the results she added "WE WAS TUH WIN! just because its schzio's people judging and thing thats why we lost. Nothing against them though. But outside this personal grievance, I now can visualize who represents The EEEmpire. That makes the difference for me."

Jason Phillip, photographer and Schizophrenic Entertainment committee member, was happy to tell The EEEmpire about BFF. He expressed his satisfaction with the proceedings of BFF 2010. Jason explained that the initial idea of BFF came from Dwight Sebero, his Schizophrenic Entertainment collage.

"Dwight discussed it with us, basically his belief was that everyone threw parties but many people did not know which committee affiliates with whom. So BFF was more or less a chance for all the different committees to come together and have fun. 'Bring your Friends and Family' "

When asked about the complaints of bias because they won their own sports day he stated that they will all meet to discuss all possible improvements for next year. However, within the next five years Jason said he wishes to see more teams joining in the fun.

"We want more people to come out and have a fun day. We plan to have events for kids soon, as well as face painting and a bouncy castle. All this in due time."

Stefan Guevera chanted feverishly throughout the games "more Chemistry than Alchemy". And beyond this chant the entire day was simply Chemistry for Triple E! See the MYRIADS of (over 600) pictures we have here.
