Coconut Bras and Grass Skirts

Imbedded deep within the roots of Hawaiian history are indigenous Hawaiian people with their own festive flavor and style. Following up on expressing our unique definition of LUAU to the world we begin to bring our concepts and ideas to life. Here is where we prove this to you before you come to the event, so you are sure what you see is what you get -- plus a little extra.

So today the Triple E  Fam went shopping! Not just randomly but on a specific mission for coconut bras and grass skirts.
Tishanna, Georgia and Teneil hunting for HULA
After traversing the streets of port of spain, from store to store [as depicted above], we eventually found clothes that made the cut.

Grass Skirts!
Maybe twine and tall savanna grass may have done the trick for the Hawaiians, but this is Trinidad. Here we have much more to deal with, these skirts must be able to stand up to the friction and gyration of a dutty flex, a slow wine or a quick tremble. Sad to say Samaroo's skirts were a little to long, and much too dry rot for our liking. Jimmy Aboud however had some more tasteful choices. See some options below:

Get them from SamaroosTel. #: 624-8431 11 Abercromby St Port Of Spain (near national libarary), Trinidad and Tobago or Jimmy Aboud - Henry Street (Obliquely Opposite the 3 story francis fashion and shoe locker on Henry Street). Prices range from $30.00 - $150.00

Coconut Bras
The right thing to accentuate any hawaiian outfit to turn it from suitable to sexy is a perfectly fitted coconut bra. How did we find a cup size to fit all? I was there and I still don't understand, but we got them adjustable and more importantly -- "fittable".

what is a LUAU?

Quick, Google!
luau (in Hawaiianlū‘au) is a Hawaiian feast. It may feature food, such as poikalua pigpokelomi salmonopihihaupia, and beer; and entertainment, such as Hawaiian music and hula. Among people from Hawaii, the concepts of "luau" and "party" are often blended, resulting in graduation luaus, wedding luaus, and birthday luaus.

On November 14th, the EEEmpire brings the 'Luau' to Trinidad. Many may argue that this is just another Hawaiian party, and while luau and party may be used interchangeably the concept of wreaths and flowers is merely 1% of a Luau experience. We have tailored the concept to suit our trini flavor and taste so a Hawaiian in Trinidad would find the event starkly familiar but remarkably different.

ehow explains their version of a LUAU and how to put on one!

So back to the question, what is a LUAU?
To us a LUAU is an evening fiesta of fun, excitement concentrated to appeal to all five senses. This year, we introduce our Trinidadian culture into the hawaii themed event producing our own concept. Although still under development and subject to availability and feasibility of execution the list of confirmed activities sounds like a hawaiian handful already. On this blog we will showcase as much as possible the process in negotiating, organizing and setting up this. Look out for:
• Coconut Vendors
Picture: The oldest original toyota pick up van, with its back down stacked with coconuts. The vendor catches your eye before you catch his and eagerly croaks -- Jelly or No Jelly. With your approval he goes into his secret stash of refrigerated coconuts togive you the best of both worlds. The freshness, and the refreshingness! Without warning he begins to slice the green off the nut eventually creating a drinking hole just big enough to poke a straw through.

• Ice Cold Snowcone Cocktails
So we have a Snowcone. Arguably the caribbean's most refreshing drink. Mainly because it is essentially crushed ice. This local drink has been developed by vendors who add syrup and milk and sell snowcones for $5-$10. At our event, we intend to push the envelope and create specialty luau cocktails. Drink quickly but savour the taste because alcohol melts ice fast.

• Hula Hoop Ladies
So we have a female. A curvilisious, confident female. Swerving her hips to the beat of the music. Maybe she uses the hula hoop, maybe she doesn't. What matters is her waistline gyration is constant, consistent and coming nearer to you!

• Limbo Dances
Not to be confused with Limbo Dancers, we challenge those adventurous drunken party goers. How low can you go? Meditate on that, practice a little and come November 14th to show off your skills or lack off!

• Flame Throwers
This is our LIVE decoration. Party to the backdrop of a periodic burst of fire or fireworks!

• Slushie Girls serving Slushies
Well once upon a time we meet Jasanya Jones and her Slushie girls. Vibrant female partyholics. On November 14th the Slushie girls will be present to serve ... well... err... Slushies!

We dere you to come see if we would really do it!

Limited Advanced Tickets are available starting at $100 from

Party in the Park or the Pool?

Armani & Ken
As we all know, the months September and October boast the most amount of birthdays in Trinidad and Tobago. The unspoken theory is that all Trinidadians are consciously or unconsciously more promiscuous and more fertile around the January-February Carnival Season. As our good friend  Nesta Boxill says: "And nine months later baby sure born". Whether or not this theory is true, within our Triple E Fam their are several birthdays in and around this time frame.
Most notably during September 2010 were the birthdays and respective birthday celebrations of Ken and Armani. Relatives by choice, it may be too corny to call these two brothers from another mother as both Ken and Armani are as different as they are similar. Those interested in the life story of these kids, or just a little to idle for comfort can check out more on these two sidekicks on their official fan page: Ken and Armani.

Party in the Park - September 12th

The first leg of our Triple E Fam, special presentation was Ken's Party in the Park. This event was squarely based on the concept that people in general will party anywhere once given a chance. Also the motivation behind it, according to Ken was because he 'just wanted to sit and talk, picnic style with his friends'. The idea was that the freedom of the event would allow all interested to come share a drink and have a lime on a Sunday evening, no strings attached. Turn out was scattered in the first few hours due to rain for four hours before the event. The few who did make it on time did picnic in the park as planned however and the vibes never stopped it nightfall. By 7pm the Party moved to the road, when the influx of friends and supporters turned up. Apparently four hours of sunny skies after the rain was enough to convince most. Whatever it was, Total Control spun the event out of control as Britney, Daniella, Kristal and Akeem arrived with the food.

The free flow of Gerra, Pelau, Red Bull and the cases of Guinness the YBC boys contributed was enough to turn the Park vibes into Pure Vibes in the road. Macoya Gardens residents and the police officers did not complain and the event closed off at 9.30. Stragglers made their way to Ken's home nearby and unceremoniously dealt with his birthday cake. Although the concept of "Partying in the Park" is still yet to be executed the idea of jumping up and down rave style in the middle of a random park is still on the agenda for the EEEmpire. Maybe Ken will have a part 2, without the complications of it being his birthday and torrential rainfall for the entire day. Maybe...

Party in the Pool - September 26th
Armani Fernandes helps Kayla Martin out the pool
The second leg of this Virgo extravaganza took place in the southern neighborhood Gulf View at the home of Armani Fernandes. At his home the palancemaster came alive! True to tradition he extended himself selflessly to provide a shuttle service from the east to safely transport his friends willing to come support his pool lime. Selector Red, the hidden female Dj of Redymix DMT kept the tunes in running smoothly and controlled the special requests for random music from semi drunk attendees.
The set up was perfect as Armani's open bar and his floating mini bar kept his friends happier than usual. The highlight of the evening was the valiant attempts by several girls to avoid the pool at all costs. Unfortunately for them, each person was thrown into the pool sooner, later or repeatedly!
Happy People Party Pool Side @ Armani's house

Kayla Martin was a classic example of this, being one of the first girls to be thrown into the pool. Up to publishing time, she could not be reached for questioning. This event progressed smoothly from the day into the night with Jasanya Jones and the Regal Elite sisters instrumental in keeping everyone's spirits up with wanton abandonment and indiscriminate interaction with invited guests. Turn out was great although almost everyone came at different times but Aidan represented for his Blaquee Pheonix, Seon Guitain was there since Omari Luke was too far to come even if he wanted too, even the newest members of Triple E like Shady were most present to support the Palancemaster.
