Where is it really going to be?
DO I Really have to wear a White Jersey?
What is White Jersey Season?

And the questions continue...
Already talks, rumors and pictures of the college graffiti experience II have stirred quite a buzz among the Trinidad and Tobago facebook community. This blog provides the official answers to frequently asked questions and concerns.

A. Patrons will be escorted to any one of the three large elevators we plan to utalise throughout the night. Easter Monday = Beach

It was amazing to see that it did not matter how proficient one was in maths, everyone understood that equation this Easter Monday. The entire Triple E Crew in collaboration with some COSTAATT Students pooled their resources and put together a fun lime on Maracas Beach.

The purpose was to strengthen bonds formed the week before at the BFF sports within the crew and foster an environment devoid of noise, loud music and random gyration and full of fun activities and a general slow paced relaxing day.

According to Ken Sambury, the idea was orginally Kevon Adams, to have a beach lime some time involving COSTAATT Students.

"Kevon wanted to have a beach lime, so I teamed up with him and we helped each other out. I made a facebook event, printed tickets and organised maxis as we normally would and Kevon and his friends used the resources we provided. It turned out nicely, incident free" Ken said.

This beach lime consisted of several large 24 seater Red Band Maxi taxis full of talkative, fun loving young adults. It included games such as twister and pictionary to ad that special 'lime' aspect to the day. Twister was especially a hit as people intertwined among one another twisting and bending their bodies all in an attempt to stay in the game. iPALANCE.com caputured some classic pictures of the twister twists and falls.

The lime also boasted a well stocked beach cooler bar consisting of several coolers ram crammed with beers, bottles and red bull. Patrons like Orlando Greenage also tasted some of "grannies hand" eating out of the big pot of pealau.

The EEEmpire has hosted a string of "Not another Beach Limes" throughout 2009 usually well attended involving a bit of the beach fun and a night time party. This time the emphasis was on relaxation. Commenting on this Sadeisha Chunksy Folkes said the lime was very fun for her but she likes to hear her loud music when liming. "The lime was fun actually, but next time play the music"

In response to this, Stefan Guevara said the next similar event is a road trip alongside Eddie Entertainment in two 52 seater buses, all fully equipped with their own 'hard pong' speaker set up. Stefan explained; "Right now we are trying to fit some turn tables in the big bus. We would see how that works out"

Quacey Titus shares a thought in the Maxi. (this was before the maxi stopped for about 30 more people in San Juan)

Bring Friends and Family!

Pop!” Was the literal sound from the Balloon Bust race which signalled the start of second annual B.F.F Sports and Family day last Sunday the 29th March at W.A.S.A grounds.
For some Trinidadians, BFF means much more than Best Friends Forever, but to the host Schizophrenic Entertainment, it signified "Bring Friends and Family" together. For the past week, facebook has abound with footage of the BFF triumphs, tribulations, teamwork and some very interesting facial expressions.

This 'BFF' Sports Day saw the organizers Schizophrenic Entertainment pitted against four other entertainment organizations. These teams included Liquid Dream, TriniCrew.com, Blaque Phoenixxx and us, the EEEmpire. This event had an amazing build up of friendly competition with entertainment committee members poking fun at each other all professing victory long before the sports day!

Asking a few questions to EEEmpire committee members, the general consensus was that the experience ran significantly smoother than last year, with the Schizo team keeping everyone updated well in advance and working along patiently to liaise with the team.

Kicking off around 2pm in the afternoon, all teams participated in 18 fun events. From running to dancing, skipping and sliding, all committees maintained high hopes for the BFF trophy. With blazing sun on all participant's backs only their enthusiasm from the teams they represented keep these participants energized.

In a brief interview with Shaena Cariah, 'Secretary 2' of The EEEmpire, she explained that BFF for her was a wonderful experience although it was her first sports day of this kind. She described the day as "fun, fun, fun" explaining that she enjoyed it thoroughly and it was interesting to see how people of different committees interacted with each other in that type of environment.

When asked how she benefited as a person, she said: "Yes, this has made me more interactive in general and specifically with my peers from the committee. I was also able to meet and network with and other people from different committees like Liquid Dream and Schizo" Concerning the results she added "WE WAS TUH WIN! just because its schzio's people judging and thing thats why we lost. Nothing against them though. But outside this personal grievance, I now can visualize who represents The EEEmpire. That makes the difference for me."

Jason Phillip, photographer and Schizophrenic Entertainment committee member, was happy to tell The EEEmpire about BFF. He expressed his satisfaction with the proceedings of BFF 2010. Jason explained that the initial idea of BFF came from Dwight Sebero, his Schizophrenic Entertainment collage.

"Dwight discussed it with us, basically his belief was that everyone threw parties but many people did not know which committee affiliates with whom. So BFF was more or less a chance for all the different committees to come together and have fun. 'Bring your Friends and Family' "

When asked about the complaints of bias because they won their own sports day he stated that they will all meet to discuss all possible improvements for next year. However, within the next five years Jason said he wishes to see more teams joining in the fun.

"We want more people to come out and have a fun day. We plan to have events for kids soon, as well as face painting and a bouncy castle. All this in due time."

Stefan Guevera chanted feverishly throughout the games "more Chemistry than Alchemy". And beyond this chant the entire day was simply Chemistry for Triple E! See the MYRIADS of (over 600) pictures we have here.

VOTE Jonathan Morgan - UWI LS: Public Relations Officer 2010 - 2011

Public Relations Officer Manifesto:
  • Develop a small public relations committee with specified roles allocated on ground of suitability.
    • Graphics Designer , Web Page Designer ,  Publication Creator  etc.
  • Regularly update and maintain the Law Society Website, Facebook Pages/Groups and Online Forums
  • Provide a voice and presence for each activity of the executive and the society allowing for greater awareness and participation
  • Produce of a Monthly Newsletter with a variety of relevant and entertaining information
    • Facilitating broadcast of information in a hard copy document
    • Including humorous and leisure articles and features
    • Allowing the student another objective medium to voice concerns
  • Effectively disseminate information to the faculty via email lists, hardcopy notices and word-of-mouth
    • Maintain and Update databases of society members that are categorised into:
      • Membership types, Year Groups, Majors, Law Students belonging to Jamaica and Trinidad
  • Maintain the Law Society and Faculty Notice Boards to avoid clutter, confusion and misrepresentation (relocating them where needed)
    • Keeping the faculty aware of notices that are posted without taking for granted that they have seen it because it’s there.
  • Develop a new look for the website and promote the increased traffic to the online resources.
    • Through the developing of online forums, video podcasts, News Features, and a law work compilation database
    • Using student polls to determine website changes to aid student involvement
However, the duties of the Public Relation Officer extend beyond the explicit guidelines pointed to by the Constitution. The year 2010 – 2011 requires a specified focus towards protecting and enhancing the image of the society. In light of this I shall seek to:
  • Maintain a direct connection with the campuses in Jamaica and Trinidad
    • With the advent of 3 year law faculties in those respective islands (Jamaica this year and Trinidad subsequently), the cultural plurality that we have experienced at Cavehill is at risk of approaching extinction. It is therefore essential to initiate plans towards the continuous interaction across the three islands. I shall endeavour to:
    • Organise Inter-island Law Competitions (eg- Law Memorandum Competition)
    • Open a Video Submission options to each faculty (Possibly on the Cultural Integration theme - To share the differences experiences at the respective campuses)
    • Inquire into the possibility of exchange student programs across the islands (The best Moot speakers in Trinidad gain an opportunity to spend a semester in Barbados while training to participate in the International Mooting Preliminaries – for example...)

  • Dissolve the image of “Lawyers on the hill” amidst the other faculties by:
    • Exploring the possibility of joint ventures between faculties – Interfaculty Competitions (Trivia Contest between Law & Med  /  Leisure Activities with Pure and Applied)
    • Maintaining a regular discourse and dissemination of information to the external faculties about the activities of the Law Society
    • Creating a web forum and blog for law students to contribute legal information and techniques to upcoming law and cross faculty students
    • Promoting the idea of including more activities during law week and otherwise that are open to the entire campus (It is expected that those activities should include some cover charge)
    • Partnering with other faculties to meet and greet with incoming students.

  • Facilitate the greater participation of the society members that remain docile through lack of interest
    • By working in conjunction with the entertainment committee, I will suggest and promote the hosting of unorthodox events to appeal to those who have not found their niche within the range of the Society’s events (eg: promoting physical activities outside of law week, music producing competition, inviting local artists to open a show for the faculty etc)

  • Maintain a personable and approachable persona while operating within the capacity of Public Relations Officer and upholding the image of the Law Society first and foremost in the presentation of myself.

The INSIDE Scoop on Great Fete Weekend 2010

The INSIDE scoop examines the products of The Trinidad Entertainment Industry. We take it apart and analyze things progressively and objectively.

Each year, for Trinbagoian party goers, the Sandbox Great Fete Weekend is the center of attention during the July - August holiday season. Over the years Great Fete has progressed from a Great Race after party to a five night tourist attraction. Much more than a party, Great Fete is definitely a festival hosting the Caribbean's best artiste, Djs and Sounds Systems. For The EEEmpire, Great Fete represents a culture unique to Trinidad and Tobago, a culture where the freedom of mind, body and soul for hours into the blazing Sun means everything. The dead of night is permanently broken each week by relentless party goers regardless of the province, neighborhood, area, city or borough. It is this culture that influences the annual pilgrimage of hundreds of people to Tobago for Great Fete Weekend.

Great Fete allows the average patron to enjoy 5 nights of non stop fun all made accessible by your Great Fete Pass. The parties begin around 10pm and end well into daylight on the following day. The unbridled misbehavior and basic jubilance of this festival stretches throughout the weekend. Many say that apart from the parties, the real experience is the time spent in Tobago away from home, living with your party mates. Whatever it may be, experiences of Great Fete Weekends past have left such an indelible impression on the minds of people that the pilgrimage will continue for an eleventh time this year. The theme for Great Fete Weekend 2010 is "I love Great Fete". To better satisfy the voracious appetites of party goers, this year's Great Fete is now planned to be six nights.

The EEEmpire had an opportunity to catch up with Kevan Gibbs, Great Fete Godfather who was happy to inveigle our imagination with exciting visualizations of Great Fete 2010.

EEEmpire News: I notice this year is SIX days of fun, why the extra day?
Kevan Gibbs: Yes the extra night is Monday night. August the second to be exact. This is actually not the first time Great Fete was a full six nights of fun. We do it because Monday is a National Holiday

EEEmpire News: Interesting, how many times was this done before?
Kevan Gibbs: Too many times and too long ago to remember . But anytime Emancipation holiday falls on a Monday we introduce the additional night.

EEEmpire News: Quite exciting, did it work out well in previous years?
Kevan Gibbs: People loved it! They are allowed a bonus night which has been always very well received by patrons. Its amazing that most patrons seem reluctant to leave even on the last day.

EEEmpire News: Tell me some of the differences to be expected this year in terms of the general organisation of the Great Fete Weekend?
Kevan Gibbs: Well there will be a general overhaul on parking effectively eliminating many of the parking woes experienced in previous years. There will also be easier access for people to make their way into the heart of the party. One improvement made in Great Fete 2009 was the inclusion of an elevated VIP section. This year we are increasing the size of the VIP area to facilitate patrons who prefer a more laid back and relaxed setting for their Great Fete experience.

EEmpire News: What about the entertainment in Great Fete, how do you plan to top last year's show?
Kevan GIbbs: Hmmm, where to start. This year there will be MORE live acts. Artiste will be accompanied by their FULL Band. Patrons will get that full concert experience with more international acts and more Djs than ever before. And of course, the free drinks nights will be maintained.

EEEmpire News: That is music to my ears. That parking issue is a personal pet peeve. I noticed this year the theme for Great Fete 2010 is " I Love Great Fete". What inspired this?
Kevan Gibbs: SImply because. everyone keeps stopping me in the malls, on the road, on facebook, on twitter... everywhere.. Just to tell me "I LOVE GREAT FETE" and I do.
Don't you?

EEEmpire News: Well I think I love it almost as much as you yes. Tell me some more.
Kevan Gibbs: Even DJ and Artiste echoed these sentiments. Busy Signal was our headline act on Great Fete Saturday last year. His manager me called to get the video of Busy Signal's performance last year he told me how much they loved the experience.Doug E Slughter, Sel Construction, Devon Matthews, PStar 2.0, Shall Marshal  and even Cutty Ranks expressed this love to me personally.

EEEmpire News: When can people expect to purchase early bird season passes? What is the starting price?
Kevan Gibbs: We would release Great Fete Season Passes to committee members on April 15th at $550ttd.

EEEmpire News: In the midst of the Caribbean's drought, how does Great Fete plan to maintain its appeal for highly anticipated Wet Fete Saturday?
Kevan Gibbs: Well Sandbox is committed to ensure patrons have the ultimate experience regardless. So Wet Fete will always be a Wet Fete. Maybe God will smile upon us and allow rain to fall, but we have put mechanisms in place to ensure that on Saturday 31st of July the water hose will spray water!

EEEmpire News: Send a message to patrons, what would you like to tell them about Great Fete Weekend 2010 this year!?
Kevan Gibbs: Expect everything you love and more!

Media Splashing In a Water Shortage?

Newest on the scene for the Triple E Team is the Preliminary Media Splash
According to facebook "The aim of this media splash is to showcase Trinidadian Lifestyle for what it really is" The Media Splash team believes that "the average Trinidadian has a lifestyle which is inherently entertaining!"
I had a chance to catch up with Ken Sambury and Jermaine Hamilton both integral parts of this media' centered operation.

Speaking with Jermaine Hamilton first, I got a gist of what this is about:
Q. So to you what is this Media Splash?
A: The media splash is a showcase of trini lifestyle
Q: So how do you think J Hamilton Photography will benefit from this media splash?
A: Well I think it is always better to meet with people directly. To me it is the point of any marketing strategy. So I guess for me, a lot more people would knw who I am and what I do. This Sunday I'm having a photo shoot at 70 percent off, as part of this, just to say a big hearty thank you to fans etc.
Q: I notice its "preliminary" what does this mean?
A: well simply put, this is a DRY RUN. So don't blame us if we reach a lil late or the videos are shorter etc. This is where we test the waters, because its still lent, people have not really started to party yet.
Today I also spoke with Ken Sambury who was beaming with excitement about this project. He explained that it was his idea to bring local creative media to life but complained that he rarely has the equipment and support to do so. However, the splash is a new format through which he hopes to showcase a more than the average "scene". Below is in brief what he said about this "preliminary splash"
Q; What is this Media Splash?
A: Basically its an extensive video and photo blog which is meant to showcase our culture, not in its traditional forms, but the culture of our lifestyle much overlooked in trini. In my opinion "just what we do everyday, is entertaining! "
Q: What aspects of our culture do u find is most overlooked?
"The culture of our lifestyle". What we do from day to day is unique to Trinidad and Tobago.
Q: How soon is the Media Splash supposed to begin? Where is it to take place? Give me some details.
A: Thursday, 04 March 2010 at 18:00 until Monday, 08 March 2010 at 02:45. It takes place at Malls, Parks, Schools, Godai, Zen, 51 Degrees, Your Bedroom, Your Back Window, D Mango Tree Next Door. EVERYWHERE and ANYWHERE!
Q: And can anyone become apart of this media splash or is it going to be specific to The EEEmpire an it's members?
A: Well since the splash is us walking around with cameras filming people we plan to start with ourselves, because we are readily available but ANYONE we see in passing could, should and would share the spotlight!
Q: How can interested person's become involved in this type of Media?
A: They can simply contact us at our hotline -1-868-760-4989  or email us

Thus far one single has been released to facebook and reverbnation entitled "Born to Be a STA". It was recorded by re qwest of Sweet Sound Productions. The original track was Soulja boy's Turn My Swag On produced by Natural Disaster, Top Cat.
The single, written by Nesta, highlights his own struggle making his way out of the ghetto. The song has an inspirational theme, where ghetto youths are encouraged to emulate Nesta's example and shoot for the sky in the face of the "fight down" from today's system.
